The Next Big AI Model called Orion that is developed by OpenAI is Speculated to be Launched in December 2024
Rumors that OpenAI will reveal "Orion," as early as December take place here and there in the community of developers and journalists. Experts say Orion will be a big improvement over GPT-4 and could be another turning point in the development of AI. However, Orion will not be immediately available to the public, in contrast to previous launches of the company. OpenAI intends to launch in stages, providing early access to some business partners.
How are they going to launch Orion?
This time, OpenAI appears to be prioritizing stability and targeted application development. Their associated partners will receive early access to Orion, allowing them to build unique applications and further improve the AI’s capabilities before launching it publicly.
Microsoft engineers are already preparing to host Orion on Azure in November. Microsoft users will be lucky enough to be among the first to experience Orion's new capabilities.
Hints from OpenAI’s CEO
In September, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman posted a mysterious message on X (formerly Twitter): “Excited for the winter constellations to rise soon; they are so great.” To some, this seemed like a poetic post, but to the keen-eyed, it was a hint.
Orion is a well-known winter constellation, which is visible from November in the northern part of the earth. The post referred to the new model’s name, inducing excitement among AI enthusiasts.

They say it’s going to be far more capable than GPT-4. Orion may have “100x more computation volume” than its predecessor, according to an OpenAI executive.
