Connal McNamara

I am a writer, digital marketer, and marketing communications specialist. Working alongside The Cultch team, I am on a mission to bring groundbreaking performances to audiences around the world. ❖ With a background in creative writing and history, I thought I had committed myself to a lifetime of sipping cappuccinos and staring moodily out of café windows. I taught creative writing tutorials at UBC and marked up students' work with what I hope was helpful advice. And then I discovered the possibilities of creative, data-informed marketing. I worked in marketing for a startup and then a marketing agency, gaining invaluable experience and learning from seasoned marketing and business professionals. My goal is to become fully bilingual, fluent in both the creative and strategic sides of marketing. ❖ My undergraduate education in the History of Science taught me how to make sense of medieval alchemy, but it also taught me how to perform quality research and how to generate key insights. My Master's in Creative Writing has turned out to be good for more than coming up with clever taglines: it has helped me to craft engaging content for audiences. ❖ As the Marketing Manager at The Cultch, I draw upon analytic, project management, and creative skills. Together, we help bring the vital alchemy of the theatre to our audiences.
