Dr. Kenman Gan

I’m an eye physician and surgeon, and Founder CEO of an eyecare telemedicine company. I started coding when I was 8 years old, creating video games using Applesoft BASIC. I have always believed that software would one day diagnose and treat diseases. In 2011, I started a small software company with the idea that we could leverage emerging cloud-based technologies to provide eyecare remotely to patients experiencing long wait times to see doctors. We have grown slowly over the last decade and today, we are the largest tele-ophthalmology program in Canada. Our software has advanced to where it is now a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) system which can review a patient’s entire chart, and diagnose and treat eye diseases with over 99% accuracy. "DeepMD" is the only AI system in the world capable of doing this. Everyone over the age of 50 will eventually experience an age-related degenerative eye condition. With the world’s rapidly aging population, I believe that DeepMD will be at the forefront of sight preservation. I'm fascinated with sociology, culture and people, and have had the privilege of backpacking more than 100 countries. I’m always looking to connect with other eyecare professionals, software developers and investors who are passionate about revolutionary healthcare technology.
