Geoffrey G. Briant, LL.B.

An experienced Canadian institutional investment management executive with over 30 years of experience in the Canadian financial services industry including the development of hedge fund, structured product and derivatives expertise combined with Canadian income tax expertise. His institutional sales responsibilities in 2015 included business development for a leading Canadian alternative investments management company by expanding its $2B+ high net worth business into the institutional market in Canada. Commencing in January 2018, his institutional sales activities currently include institutional sales in Canada of a global offering for a growth capital PE fund focused on Impact Investing for Sustainable Developments - the Nobel Sustainability Fund. In March 2020, he co-founded Cachet Capital Partners Inc. (“Cachet”) as the General Partner of the Cachet Renewable Energy LPs. In Q3/2021, Cachet Sustainability Inc. was formed to pursue growth capital PE investment opportunities in scaling commercializations of sustainable developments technology companies in Canada and the U.S. at the climate change nexus with energy, food & water. Together, Cachet Capital Partners and Cachet Sustainability comprise the Cachet Group of companies with Cachet Capital Inc. as the parent of the group. Cachet Capital Partners was established to create and distribute tax-advantaged financial products for taxable Canadian individuals seeking to invest in the development of renewable energy projects across Canada together with the development and distribution of innovative institutional financial products developed for the leading pension funds, banks and life insurance companies in Canada. By combining his experience practising Canadian income tax law with his investment management, structured product and derivatives expertise acquired in establishing the Canadian subsidiary of AllianceBernstein (then Alliance Capital) as its President, he has developed unique tax-efficient structured products and investment strategies to increase the retirement savings of institutional and individual investors. His achievements at AllianceBernstein Canada included developing and introducing index-linked swaps enhanced by market neutral U.S. equity strategies to the Top 100 pension funds across Canada. Mr. Briant holds a B.A.(Hon. Econ.) and LL.B. from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
