An inventor by nature, I have devoted my life to technological innovation, taking sector-specific problems and transforming them into practical, commercialized solutions. Over two decades, I have combined expertise in scientific research and experimentation, technology development, early stage start-ups and technology commercialization to create innovative technologies and products for the mining, oil and gas, automotive and healthcare sectors. As a successful inventor and entrepreneur, my career has included the following prime examples: • Dedicated to saving the lives of technicians in the oil and gas industry: A machine vision-based patented technology and system to control an outdoor robotic manipulator in charge of handling oil well pipe-tripping actions. • Focusing on efficiency and productivity in open-pit mining: Being part of the innovation and managerial team to design, develop and commercialize FragMetricsTM, a patented technology that solved a major engineering problem for mine blast engineers. • Defining my PhD research at UBC: An automatic vehicular headrest adjustment system for mitigating whiplash injuries in rear-end collisions. My lifelong work has manifested in the field of medical devices at NZ Technologies Inc. Dedicated to improving the quality of care and patient outcomes, we collaborated with thought leaders in the field of clinical technologies and sciences to develop our primary product, TIPSO™, a novel Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) technology for the operating room. Bringing touchless interactions to the OR and making it a standard of healthcare, our HMI technology enables surgeons to touchlessly interact with radiological images. This specialized medical technology evolved with contributions from physicians and our co-inventors, and is used in 15 medical institutions and counting across North America.
