Samim Safaei

I am a multi-disciplinary engineer turned entrepreneur with a diverse background from industrial machines & safety, to IoT & SmartHomes and most recently Multimedia & AR. I've been a Scientist, Inventor, Engineer, Product Manager, Biz Dev & Customer Success, and a serial Founder. The common thread in my winding past is I love exploring ideas from various disciplines to weave practical solutions. To me, this is a very intimate way of exploring the world and fitting together the commonalities across society... It's all fractal :) Most recently, I made the difficult decision of shutting down my startup "aloom" which sits at the intersection of multimedia, AR, AI, and IoT - with a deeply personal mission to help people feel more connected during isolating times. Before this, I develop a B2B SmartHome IoT product line from the ground up AMPL ENERGY. In partnership with software platform company Embue, I helped in the entire lifecycle and breadth of this new ecosystem (including extensive customer service) to ship thousands of products (and growing) that are still widely used in the North-Eastern US today. What sparked it all was, after building my foundations on the west coast in the conventional engineering path, I took a leap of faith and moved out east to Boston for my Master's with the goal to commercialize an optical fire sensor I conceived in my undergrad, and I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunities to do so; from academic conferences to patent authorships & licensing, then grant funding and government research projects, I stuck through and eventually co-founded, Global Fire Products with a local serial entrepreneur/mentor that taught me a "street-MBA".
