In British Columbia, CanadaAbout Me
I am passionate about ending the suffering from breast cancer because of the impact it made in my childhood affecting my grandmother, as well as several generations of women in my family. The concept of PhoenixMD was inspired by the phoenix and countless individuals who go in and out of remission left only to wonder how long they have until the cancer comes back. If we can understand what causes cancer to come back, we can find the path to better cures. What sets PhoenixMD apart from any other cancer drug company is our intensely dedicated team culture and experience that I believe is the key to our success. The technology we have developed is patented and uniquely positioned to competitively change how breast cancer will be managed in the future. At PhoenixMD, our team has designed a safer more effective cancer therapeutics. Our philosophy is to rationally develop drugs that are game changers for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. These therapies have applications to 14 other types of cancers including prostate, lung and colon cancers as well as rare forms of brain tumors in children. What is unique about the therapy we are developing is it is designed to prevent cancer from returning because we are targeting the Phoenix of cancer. I have led multinational oncology research projects to advance the development of novel cancer therapeutics and have built amazing teams to achieve these goals. Over the past 26 years, I have raised millions of dollars to fund cancer research and have built one of the few female led biotech companies specifically aimed at eradicating breast cancer. At PhoenixMD, we are working to change the outcomes for women with breast cancer by developing a selective new drug to uniquely attack the cancer cells in a way that has not been done before. My previous experience has been a foundation for the work we do. I am classically trained as molecular biologist and toxicologist. Professionally I have spent >27 years as a breast cancer researcher and as such have served on multiple oversight committees, examples include: Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation: - Served as a board member for the BC/Yukon region, National Grants committee, Chair of Research Advisory Council (RAC) for BC/Yukon. Past Chair of the RAC for the Prairies and North West Territories region. Department of Defense: Breast Cancer Research Program (USA), Project Lead, Susan Komen Foundation. Technology leader in oncology drug development and biotech business development.
