Throughout his career, Girish has been at the intersection of real-time graphics and virtual cinematography, working at companies such as MPC, Digital Domain, and Side Effects Software while earning a patent for his research work in mobile virtual camera systems. His involvement in productions such as Disney's The Lion King and Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One helped engage directors, production designers, and DPs through the use of game engine technologies. As the Director of Virtual Production at Netflix, Girish leads the strategy for the studio’s engagement with virtual production methodologies, assessing content early in development and working directly with filmmakers and facilities to deploy virtual production across all types of content, including notable titles such as Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, Sweet Home, The Midnight Sky, and the upcoming series 1899 & Avatar: The Last Airbender. Girish’s pursuit for the democratization, standardization, and elevated literacy of virtual production was recognized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) with the Progress Medal for significant global advancement in the field and his influence on how feature films and television shows are produced today and in the future.
