23 years ago, Susan Levin and I started Speaker Services to bring speakers and audiences together (SpeakerServices.com). Since I was a working journalist, and not much good as a business partner, Susan became the owner, helping authors, coaches, and experts of all kinds to build their speaking careers. Many new speakers got their start under Susan's guidance. Susan passed away suddenly in 2013, and I stepped into her shoes. I've redesigned the website, added training for speakers, and bring my years of experience in mainstream media to the table. The self-publishing revolution has made it easy for anyone to get published, but the new challenge is promotion. If you're an author, film-maker, coach, therapist, business owner, corporate exec, or expert in any field, the best way to get visibility is public speaking. The world has changed, and today it's all about promotion. One of the best ways to share what matters most to you is to get out there and speak. My background: As a journalist specializing in celebrity profiles for print media, and as host of "The Book Beat" Internet TV show, I like to help authors and experts focus their message for audiences and the media. I've interviewed film stars, political figures and best-selling authors for Redbook, McCall’s, Parade, AARP The Magazine, Woman’s World and many other publications, and my work has been syndicated by The New York Times and Knight Features (London). I'm the author of Space Patrol: Missions of Daring in the Name of Early Television, a saga of early, live TV and a time when kids had role models who were compassionate heroes. Teaching: I created the Get Published Now seminar for The Learning Annex, Learning Tree University, Cerritos College and University of California (Davis). I currently teach “Introduction to Getting Published” and “Take Your Writing to the Next Level” at UC Riverside.
