Chef Kiran Kolathodan,Executive Chef Owner of KL Dining is well known for gaining inspiration from a wide range of cuisines as well as connecting with nature to develop a genuine appreciation for his ingredients. He is always looking to add his own perspective to create unique dining experiences for his guests. Born in Kerala, India, Chef Kiran began his culinary career by learning from his grandmother who owned a local restaurant, where they use fresh vegetables & spices that were easily accessible from the family’s agricultural land. His interest in food continued to grow, leading him to attend the renowned Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology. After graduating, Kiran moved to Canada to broaden his experience and further his hospitality career. He completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel, Resort & Restaurant Management in Ontario and then immediately accepted a position at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, in Alberta. Since then Chef Kiran had the opportunity to work in all sorts of the kitchens and restaurants in multiple luxury hotels, alongside several well-known Canadian chefs. Chef Kiran is constantly looking to learn about new trends and technical advances in the culinary industry so he can continue to improve his skills as well as share his knowledge with his guests and other chefs. To Chef Kiran, cooking is more than just the fresh local ingredients and the art of plating a dish. He a story teller and an artist, that looks to provide a creative experience for his guests, ensuring they feel an authentic connection to their food. Chef Kiran’s passion for food reaches beyond his career and is a part of every facet of his life. Whether it is at work or at home; you will always find him in the kitchen. He even attempted to cook the meal at his own wedding – in the end he settled for just the appetizers! Chef Kiran has participated in many prestigious dinners and private events and weddings hosted at the hotel. Chef Kiran looks forward to future opportunities, within his community and throughout the World, that will allow him to provide guests’ with the shared experience of enjoying a meal. Bon Appetite.
