I am currently the Administrative Coordinator of the Residential School History & Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia. In my role, my primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the administration functions of RSHDC, from arranging high level committee meetings to leading the administration of financial resources and managing maintenance of confidential staff records, including salary and absence tracking for all staff. Drawing on my Academic background, I play a lead role in ensuring and enhancing the institutional accountability of the Residential School History & Dialogue Centre at all stages. As a member of RSHDC team, I strive to best advice the Director and Associate Director in all aspects of their work and to support the organization in achieving its legislated public interest mandate. Enhancing the credibility of the organization among the membership, stakeholder groups, government and the general public is a constant objective in every aspect of my work. I often provide institutional advice and recommend departmental procedures and guidelines. My focus is to ensure strict adherence to the principles of human rights legislation so that every step in our processes can withstand public scrutiny. I am able to build and manage effective projects and networks and demonstrate initiative, leadership, and originality in identifying challenges and opportunities. I identify and organize priorities among competing demands and tasks and communicate difficult messages with tact and professionalism. I believe that respect and kindness must be core values in any work environment, but especially one which is responsible for the well-being of students and their educational experience.
