In my role as Engineering Manager I design software, help product managers plan development, mentor my team of awesome coders, placate customers, communicate out to the rest of the company, and much much more. I see my job as delivering the best software possible to the company's clients, and I do whatever's needed to accomplish that. Everything I do fits into my philosophy of management. I view the development of my team's abilities as a key value to the company and great incentive to them. Coordinating both internal and external plans has headed off many potential delivery failures. Being involved in all parts of the business helps me understand the demands on the development team.
