I studied law and have worked for the last 8 years with local communities to facilitate community participation in environmental governance. My work and interests have moved between law, social sciences, ecology and art/design, with the aim to find ways in which different knowledge systems can come together to center local communities in conservation. I have worked on the rights of adivasi communities in Odisha around mining and forest rights, in Lakshadweep on changing fisheries and climate change, and in Tamilnadu on impacts of tourism on fishing communities. I am particularly interested in storytelling and believe that the world is best understood through the stories we tell ourselves and each other.
