Description

We are looking for a seasoned accountant to take in charge of overall financial management of our
growing portfolio. You will develop strong understanding of contracts and agreements and perform all
relevant accounting activities from project set-up, cost recording, revenue recognition, book keeping,
project forecasting and project closure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Full Cycle Accounting
- Maintain project proformas and cash flow forecasts for your assigned projects
- Review monthly project commissions billings
- Ensure all accounting records related to all properties are kept up to date within guidelines
- established by the company and/or its owners
- Carry-out special projects as requested.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate project financial reports for internal and external stakeholders (project budgetupdate reports, funding requirement reports, cash flow forecasts, distribution and waterfall projections, and other reporting requirements)
- Book Keeping
- Prepare income statements, balance sheets and statement of cash flow for owners to review
- Review and interpret financial statements and operations to facilitate informed business decision making
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements
- Prepare and review Canadian tax returns and tax forms, HST
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and coordinate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to address any outstanding discrepancies
Budgeting
- Manage project setups, modifications, budget setup/revisions and cost tracking
- Prepare monthly variance (budget vs actuals) reports, update cash flow and financial forecasts
SOFT SKILLS & CHARACTER
- QuickBooks
- An aptitude for learning (bonus points if you're working towards your designation!)
- Quantitative and analytical skills, and the ability to think strategically
- A strong technical proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- An understanding of accounting software functionality
- Superior organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task/prioritize and workunder tight timelines.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy and excellent follow-up skills.
- Ability to work and act independently using good judgment when assessing difficult situations.
- Self-motivated individual who is proactive and takes initiative.
- A professional demeanor and coupled with strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent problem solving capabilities.
- Be an active listener to messages being communicated by stakeholders and authentically engagewith them in the work of the organization
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Over5 years of project accounting experience (ideally development or construction experience)
- Post-Secondary education in Business Administration and/or Accounting
- Strong technical understanding of real estate specific reporting requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, MS Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with superior interpersonal andrelationship management skills
- Be technology savvy
- Must be approachable and capable of working efficiently while maintaining a calm, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Must exhibit a professional attitude and presentation at all times
- Must possess the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, monitor, and conduct activities requiringindependent decisions/judgment
Salary is commensurate with experience.
