PavCo is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre.
BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo) is currently searching for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our hard working and talented team.
Payroll is a team-oriented role, as it involves working with colleagues in every department. A Payroll and Benefits Administrator must be able to communicate effectively with team members and collaborate to ensure the payroll process runs smoothly. We know that this can be a demanding job because you not only have to to fulfil performance criteria while performing precise calculations, but you also have to process the payments as swiftly as possible. As a result, you must be able to maintain composure under pressure
Overall, being a successful in payroll requires a wide range of skills and abilities. Attention to detail, strong mathematical abilities, teamwork skills, multitasking, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and calmness under pressure are all important qualities for a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to possess.
This position will administer the payroll and benefits function within a unionized and non-unionized environment, adhering to federal and provincial legislation, company policy, and the union collective bargaining agreements where applicable. The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will work courteously to provide excellent customer service to internal employees by responding to in a timely manner to any employee queries.
Interested candidates must be flexible in order to work weekends, stat holidays and post 8 - 4pm business hours.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Process a bi-weekly union payroll and a bi-weekly non-union payroll with 600+ employees using Ceridian.
- Dayforce HCM and other time and attendance software.
- Interpret and adhere to a union collective bargaining agreement.
- Diligently ensure that payroll is accurate, and respond with urgency to discrepancies.
- Prepare and execute non‐routine payroll functions (T4 preparation, electronic ROE generation, benefits.
- Reporting, government reporting, garnishments, retroactive payments, etc.).
- Prepare vacation entitlements and attendance records for department managers and Finance.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year‐end analysis, reconciliations and reporting.
- Calculate and withhold statutory deductions from pay. Calculate employer’s portion of statutory.
- remittances and remit to the appropriate government authorities. Reconcile remittances with government statements. Identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Support manager with all payroll related Year‐End activities.
- Draft and distribute correspondence as it relates to payroll.
- Identify areas for improvement in process and make appropriate suggestions to the Manager.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to payroll.
- Reconciliation of recurring payroll and benefit accounts and statements (general payroll and Receiver General Remittances, WorkSafe BC remittances, and extended health/dental, Life, LTD insurance statements).
- Administer leave programs.
- Administer pension plan enrolment, remittances and reporting.
- Administer Group Benefit Plan including new hire set‐up, employee record maintenance, status changes, and employee support.
- In partnership with HR, maintain electronic personnel files.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- PCP designation or working towards quick completion.
- Certificate or Diploma in a related field of Business, Finance, or Human Resources.
- 1-3 years processing full cycle Canadian payroll, with some exposure to a unionized environment.
- Experience using a timekeeping system, preferably Ceridian Dayforce HCM.
- 1-3 years administering benefits and leave programs.
- Possesses excellent knowledge of payroll legislation and payroll year-end reporting requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
- Strong aptitude for learning new systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skill and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management skills.
- Initiative with process improvement.
- Inspire and encourage collaborative teamwork.
The salary range for this position is $51,393-64,241.
- Offers will be in line with PavCo’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education.
