Description
CitySpaces Consulting is a leading provider of community planning, development consulting, and consultation services in communities throughout Western Canada. With current commitments and emerging opportunities, CitySpaces is seeking a full-time Proposal and Marketing Specialist to join our firm. We are looking for someone to lead marketing and business development activities to expand our market reach and secure projects for our community planning and development teams. This hybrid position will be based in our Vancouver office.
THE POSITION WILL INVOLVE
- Central involvement in researching and identifying business opportunities, reviewing RFPs and preparing proposals.
- Reviewing and refining CitySpaces’ MBD materials and processes to better communicate our firm’s values and experience and connect with market sectors identified in our strategic plan.
- Working closely with the administration and graphic design teams, involved in maintaining and refreshing CitySpaces’ corporate visual branding standards, templates, website, marketing materials, and social media.
- Preparing competitive funding applications on behalf of clients.
- Copyediting and assistance with professional report writing.
- Providing strategic and creative advice to colleagues and clients on marketing and business development best practices.
- Developing marketing strategies and implementing plans to enhance the promotion of our practice.
- Coordinating and leading special assignments and research as needed.
- Working closely with the graphic design team, planning team and development team on preparing creative and interesting engagement materials and deliverables for client projects.
- Periodic travel to sites throughout Western Canada. Evening and weekend meetings are sometimes required (having a valid BC Driver’s Licence is beneficial).
YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Degree or diploma in communications, fine arts, marketing, business, design thinking or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of employment in marketing and business development context, ideally including experience related to community planning, real estate or development.
- Excellent written communications skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise and targeted marketing-driven copy, as well as a creative lens to content creation for proposals, website content and social media posts.
- Experience working on projects for a variety of clients including governments and public/institutional agencies, Indigenous communities, non-profit organizations and/or social or private enterprises.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with project team and clients.
- Strong verbal/written communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, time and project management skills.
- A compassionate people-person with a desire to connect with people and communities, including equity deserving groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, MacOS and Adobe Acrobat.
- Graphic design skills – including familiarity with MAC base software, Microsoft 365, Adobe InDesign, InCopy and Illustrator – is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION, TEAM + COMMUNITY
- In-house mentorship, training, and continuing professional development.
- Salary: $65,000 to $78,000 commensurate with experience.
- Vacation: Three weeks of vacation, plus six personal days and holiday days in December.
