Description

Recruitment Specialist

Location: Hybrid, primarily location based in either Granville Office or Abbotsford Hospice

Reporting to: Director, People & Culture

Job status: 1 year Temporary Full-time 1.0 FTE (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation: $63,000 - $70,000

YOUR ROLE

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, People & Culture this role in joint collaboration with the Employment Branding & Recruitment Specialist manages the entire recruitment cycle. As part of the People & Culture team they participate in and support all aspects of HR initiatives, processes and policies.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment – 80%

  • Jointly leads all aspects of recruitment initiatives and processes for positions across the organization
  • Attends in person and virtual career fairs to reach a broad talent pool
  • Develops strong relationships with hiring Managers and panels to create adequate postings, robust interview questions and continuously improve the process for all parties
  • Sources and listens to employee and candidate input taking a continuous improvement approach to ensure the best recruitment experience for all parties
  • Coaches managers: on applying People & Culture recruitment policies and procedures
  • Manages the recruitment process through the Applicant Tracking System (StartDate)
  • Reviews the process through a proactive accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion lenses to ensure a positive experience for all candidates regardless of outcome
  • Conducts one week, one month, and three month check ins with new hires
  • Ensures the completion of entry level surveys to ensure that the candidate’s expectations of the organization and process were met and areas for improvement identified and actioned
  • Supports the development of a dashboard of appropriate recruitment metrics to assess candidates needs and engagement
  • Maintains and improves the onboarding process for all new hires
  • Organizes and schedules the onboarding training sessions for all new hires in collaboration with presenters
  • Collaborates to create and deliver training to colleagues responsible for hiring focused on best practices
  • Informs the annual budgeting process in relation to expenses related to the recruitment cycle (job postings/participation in career fairs/advertising etc.)

Administration – 20%

  • Works closely with the People and Culture and payroll team to capture all employment changes, and action paperwork in a timely way and ensure accuracy
  • Participates in internal committees as appropriate
  • Assumes other related responsibilities, as assigned.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Experience

  • 3 years’ experience in recruitment
  • Experienced user of Applicant Tracking Systems
  • A minimum of 2 years of broad experience in HR generalist capacities
  • Non-profit and/or health care experience an asset

  • Working knowledge of Employment Standards Act of B.C., Human Rights Code, Worker Compensation Act, Occupational Health and other relevant employment legislation.
  • Personal values well-aligned with those of CPCH: demonstrated through work or community involvement.
  • Strong problem solver that sees problems as opportunities; can mediate and facilitate effective resolution of issues and conflicts. Able to deal with sensitive situations and confidential information and apply excellent judgment, diplomacy and discretion in all situations.
  • Develops effective and trusting relationships with managers and all staff; is approachable and open to the views of others. Able to work quite independently and model a collaborative work style.
  • Fosters diversity and cultural awareness at work; brings CPCH’s mission and vision to bear through HR practices that result in a respectful and representative work force.

  • Demonstrated ability to think and work strategically and operationally.
  • Robust planning skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Familiarity with payroll, HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems and other HR related systems.

Please note:

  • Evidence of Health Canada approved vaccinations must be provided prior to your first day of work.
  • Access to a vehicle or ability to rent one and a clear driving record is an asset for this role.
  • Flexibility is necessary, as this position may require occasional weekend and evening work and travel within and outside the Lower Mainland.
